Biography

Nick Elkington is a senior gynaecological surgeon at Frimley Park Hospital where he is the clinical lead for Minimal Access Surgery, Robotic Surgery and Endometriosis. Renowned for his kind, approachable demeanour, Nick is a popular, highly skilled surgeon with a very busy NHS and private practice.

As a senior consultant (and Deputy Chief of Service), he is also responsible for training Senior Trainees in advanced gynaecological surgery. As well as providing general gynaecological services, he has particular expertise in infertility and endometriosis.

He qualified from St Thomas’ Hospital, London in 1992 and completed his specialist training in London and the South West of England. He then completed a 2-year fellowship in minimally invasive gynaecology in Sydney, Australia, where he learned new advanced laparoscopic techniques including total laparoscopic hysterectomy. He has travelled internationally, lecturing and demonstrating minimal access surgery.

In 2009 Nick was one of the first gynaecologists in the UK to train in robotic gynaecology at the EITS (European Institute of Telesurgery) in Strasbourg. He has been part of a team that has introduced robotic surgery at Frimley Park Hospital. He has been on the committee of the British and Irish Society of Robotic Gynaecologists (BIARGS), which was founded in 2010, and is a past-President. He has travelled internationally, lecturing and demonstrating minimal access surgery

Nick lives near Farnham, Surrey with his wife and two sons. He enjoys family life, golf and entertaining.
